Behemoth - The Apostasy

The first time I heard Behemoth was at a venue called 'Mega Klub' in Katowice 2005. The concert The Polish death/black metal act were touring their seventh studio album ‘Demigod’ and the performance was ferocious. The music was loud, tight and fast and as the name of the band suggests, they were fucking brutal. I have just got myself a copy of  ‘The Apostasy’ and although it is a little more technical than the bands earlier work, it is easy to see the band is quickly shaping up and taking the place as Poland's biggest current export band. The Apostasy is hard, fast and dark, not to mention hideously well composed. Leszek Mozdzer, a famous Polish classical/jazz crossover pianist, features on 'Inner Sanctum', and with songs about mythical creatures, spiritual philosophy and Ancient Rome on the agenda, it is not easy to see why Behemoth are the true kings of their genre and it will take some doing to top them.
