The Aboriginal Communities of Taiwan (working title)

I am currently working on an as of yet untitled film project about the aboriginal communities in Taiwan. The film is an exploration of the various aspects of aboriginal culture and livelihood, with a particular focus on the integration of aboriginal children into the state run and private education systems. I spent three weeks in the summer of 2010, travelling across Taiwan and speaking to various aboriginal leaders, students and even business people about this ever controversial issue. Details concerning the film’s release will be available soon.

The Learning English Video Project (2008-2010)

The Learning English Video Project is a series consisting of seven short films about learning and using the English language around the globe. I began working on the project with Josef Essberger, founder of Englishclub.com, in March 2008. Since then, I have travelled the globe with my assistant producer Joel Carr in search of answers to a series of questions concerning the teaching and acquiring of English as a foreign language. The films were intentionally shot in countries that are different from each other culturally and distant from each other geographically. The idea behind the films is to capture the uniqueness of each location and present them in a way that complements the ideas and suggestions of the interviewees.

Englishclub.com provided full sponsorship for the entire project as well as arranging lesson preparation materials and activities that can be used in accordance with each film.

070105 (2005)

Intertwined with a backdrop of snow and smog, this short and somewhat experimental film allows for a perverse glimpse into the lives of young university students from all across Europe. It details stories, tales and anecdotes in a variety of languages, adding a mysterious and anonymous twist to this rather ambiguous portrayal of university life.
