News Archive 2008

December 23rd 2008

After completing two weeks research at both Our Lady of Lourdes and Southend High schools in Essex, I ventured to the capital city to retrieve some possessions that had been sent from Poland. Of all that could have happened, I did not quite anticipate visiting a major Dutch bank in London as being part of the proceedings.

My journey to the capital was the furthest trip I will have to make for the remainder of this year, at least until Saturday 27th when I fly to Spain in order to start a six month teaching contract in Madrid. This is sure to be an exciting start to 2009 and with release of The Learning English Video Project and Project Erasmus, the new year is looking to be as productive as this one has been.

I would like to end my final News post of 2008 with a snippet I shot in Brighton this November. While filming at The University of Sussex, I spent some time with The Moulettes vocalist Hannah Miller, who allowed me to record a one-off solo show. I am currently 'working' on the bands website and am desperate to get my hands on their studio album which is also set for release in 2009!

December 17th 2008

Second half of my teaching research fortnight at Southend High School for Boys this week! The aim of my two weeks experience is to try and make direct comparisons between my practices in Poland and at Millfield with UK state school programs. I am thoroughly enjoying my time with the SHSB English department and plan to write a research paper on my findings in January 2009.

Other news this week - The Learning English Video Project edit is coming along very nicely and I hope to have some more news on that before Christmas. I would also like to have a Video Blog review on the EnglishClub.com website by the end of the evening!

December 10th 2008

I have returned to Our Lady of Lourdes primary school for the first half of my teaching research fortnight! From December 8th - December 12th I am teaching/assisting with years 6 and 4 at the Leigh-On-Sea Catholic primary school.

November 22nd 2008

Southampton Solent University and The University of Sussex were both ports of call on the ERASMUS documentary escapade this week. Both universities were able to provide a wonderful array of students and academics who had captivating things to say about The British Council European exchange programme. I shall be visiting both Reading and Belfast this week where filming for the project will come to a close...

The Englishclub.com sponsored 'Project ESL' has taken a new direction in that the documentary series (comprised of films shot in Cambridge, New York, Madrid/Granada, Casablanca and Bucharest) will fall under the bracket 'The Learning English Video Project'. The online project blog has accumulated over 400 comments this week! - Film editing continues.

While filming at the University of Sussex, I was able to spend some time with Moulettes front lady Hannah Miller. The young vocalist/cellist/violinist is working on the bands debut album as well as composing a few solo tracks for The Learning English Video Project. - More Soon!
